House Numbers
In the event of an emergency it is imperative that ambulance and firefighters are able to find the residents in need. Many houses have the numbers displayed on the front of their houses, but they are hidden by vehicles in the driveway or grown trees, or maybe they faded to the point where they can no longer be easily read.
The next time you drive up to your residence look to see if your house numbers can easily be read from the street without emergency responders driving past and then backing up.
Numbers should be large enough to be read from the street. Reflective numbers will show up better at night with a light shining on them. Rural numbers will be more effective if on both sides of the post. Ambulance services may come from one direction and fire services from the opposite direction, so the numbers need to be seen from both directions.
It is important to put porch lights on to help aid emergency vehicles. Every second counts when a life or property is in danger.
St. Gertrude Auxiliary Fundraiser
Auxiliary members did very well with their sales of Butter Braids, cookie dough and pizzas. Proceeds from the sales will be used for seminarians and other charities.
St. Gertrude Catholic Church
St. Gertrude Church will host its annual Chicken Dinner on Sunday, June 4. This year’s event will be carryout with a limited amount of dine-in seating available. They plan to bring back their menu with dressing and coleslaw. Tea and water will be beverage choices. No dessert will be offered. The cost is a donation of $13 per dinner with a plan to serve 1,000 dinners. There will be no raffle tickets and no country store this year.
