Free Flu Shots

Alhambra Township will offer free flu shots to the residents of Alhambra and Alhambra Township.

The shots will be given at the Township Fireman’s Hall 3-6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9.

High dose vaccines will be provided to seniors. Children ages 6 months and older are also eligible.

For those with difficulties walking, a drive-up is available.

Call Gail Ohren 618-830-1384 to set up a time for someone to come out to your vehicle and administer your shot.

Hitz Apple Butter

Hitz Auxiliary and volunteers made apple butter Wednesday, Sept. 27.

Sold pints and quarts of apple butter may be picked up Thursday and Friday at the Hitz Home. Pint jars are $7; quarts are $11.

Proceeds will be used for the benefit of the residents.

Little Homesteader Business Fair

Alhambra will once again host the Little Homesteader Business Fair at the Alhambra Township Park.

Activities will take place in the Firemen Legion Hall 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 7.

The purpose of the Little Homesteader Business is to give an opportunity to kids 18 and under to develop their entrepreneurs skills.

If your child has a marketable skill such as baking, sewing, animal walking, salesmanship, etc., now is the time and place to encourage them to put their ideas to work. Each child will do all parts of a business: coming up with a product, marketing, selling and handling the money.

For further information, email Ashley at LHBusinessFair@gmail.com.

Alhambra Fire Department

Alhambra Fire Department was on hand to help during a patient transfer Tuesday, Sept. 19.

The Madison Country Air Evac Lifeteam made a landing at the Alhambra Park. Firemen cleared the area and got the ball diamond ready so the helicopter could make a safe and speedy landing in order to meet up with an ambulance from Highland for a patient transfer.

This is just another example of what our volunteer firemen are called out to do. Young, able-bodied people are needed to join the volunteers and help to protect our community.
