Alhambra news: Oct. 25 edition

Haunted House

The Salem Church Exhale Youth Group will host a Haunted House at the Madison County Fairgrounds in the cattle barns. This event will take place:

  • 7-11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, and Saturday, Oct. 28;

  • 7-10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29 and Tuesday, Oct. 31.

Admission is $5. Proceeds will go towards Exhale Youth Groups Mission Trips.

Halloween Hours

Halloween hours are evening hours 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31.

Residents wanting trick-or-treaters are asked to turn their porch lights on.

Trick-or-treaters, remember to stop at the Village Hall, Firehouse and Jaycee Hall.

Community Club

The Community Club will sell quilt raffle tickets at TruBuy in Highland 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, and at Maedges in Alhambra 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9.

Alhambra Primary

The school children will begin walking to the nursing homes at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Oct. 31.

Parents are asked to have their children in costume when they arrive at school (regular clothes underneath costume).

They will not be allowed to wear the plastic or rubber masks on the school bus, and it is the parents’ responsibility to make sure the costumes are not a tripping hazard. Tennis shoes are preferred footwear.

Classroom parties will be held at the school after the parade.

Fire Department Banner

In honor of Fire Prevention Month, State Farm presented the Alhambra Fire Department with a huge banner reminding everyone that cooking safety starts at home.

The banner is in front of the fire station.

Township Flu Shots

Alhambra Township provided 121 residents with flu shots.

Of those receiving shots, 65 were high-dose and 56 were regular dosage.

Thank you to the Township for helping to keep our citizens safe and healthy.

Hitz Home Christmas Tasting Bee

The Tasting Bee will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, in the Activity/Dining room at the Hitz Home.

A variety of meats will be provided, and those attending are asked to bring a dish with their favorite Christmas appetizer, dish or dessert to add to the meal.

Cost of the event is $7 per person and includes a delicious meal, silent auction, music program and raffle prizes.

Prizes include a hand quilted quilt and raffle tickets include $25 gift certificates to:

  • Maedge’s Texas Roadhouse

  • Walmart

  • Diamond Mineral Springs
