Area Hit with Sub-Zero Temps
Power outages hit many local communities during the recent extreme cold spell.
During this time a great number of people worked tirelessly in the relentless cold to insure that the citizens of these communities had somewhere safe and warm in their time of need.
Ameren workers were out from 4:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. working to restore the power to these homes.
Hamel Public Works Supervisor Don Grimm and Assistant Fire Chief Gary Bloemker of the Hamel Fire Protection District, Chief Pollet of the Livingston Williamson Fire Department and Chief Steinmeyer of the Worden Volunteer Fire Department offered their fire houses as warming stations.
This is another great example of how small communities help each other in time of need.
