Grantfork Homecoming is Aug. 14 & 15
Committees are preparing for this year’s homecoming that will be on Friday, Aug. 14 and Saturday, Aug. 15.
Derelict Vehicle Ordinance
It is an ordinance of the village that no inoperative or unlicensed motor vehicles shall be parked, kept or stored on any premises unless its in an enclosed garage, and no vehicle shall at any time be in a state of major disassemble, disrepair or in the process of being stripped or dismantled.
Grass And Property Ordinance
It is an ordinance within the village that all premises and exterior property shall be maintained free from weeds or growth in excess of 10) inches. All noxious weeds are prohibited. Property must be free from any accumulation of rubbish or garbage. Disposal shall be done in a clean and sanitary manner by placing the rubbish in approved containers.
HACSM seeks school supplies
The Highland Area Christian Service Ministry is seeking school supply donations.
The most-needed items are two-pocket folders, plastic two-pocket folders, white three-ring binders (1 inch), backpacks, No. 2 pencils, pencil boxes, red ink pens, highlighters (any color), colored pencils, erasers, Clorox wipes, facial tissues, Crayola classic washable markers, black dry-erase markers, large glue sticks, Elmer’s bottled glue (no “school glue”), Fiskars scissors (pointed tip only), calculators (Texas Instrument -TI-30XA), quart- and gallon-sized Ziplock plastic bags (tab close), composition notebooks, loose-leaf paper and spiral notebooks (wide rule only).
Donations may be placed on the table in the breezeway of the UCC church in Grantfork or take the item directly to the food pantry at 900 Chestnut St. in Highland. The food pantry is open Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Items should be donated by July 23 or earlier.
