50th anniversary: Sterling and Edwina Schoen
Sterling and Edwina Schoen of Alhambra will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Saturday, Aug. 15 with an open house from 1 to 5 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Alhambra.
The public is invited, but no gifts, please. Food or monetary donations will be accepted for the local food pantries.
Sterling “Ster” and the former Edwina “Winnie” Smith were married Aug. 15, 1965 at the college church in Greenville.
The couple has shared their home with foster children and foreign exchange students. They are both retired teachers from the Granite City School District No. 9.
