Highland area police briefs for Aug. 3-9

HPD misdemeanor warrant arrests
▪ Cameron S. Johnson, 21, of Pocahontas arrested on Aug. 6 on warrants from HPD charging him with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of criminal damage to property. Police allege that Johnson attacked another person with baseball bat, though he did not actually hit the victim. Police also allege that Johnson did damage the window of the victim’s vehicle. The incident is alleged to have happened at 192 Woodcrest Drive on on July 4. His bond was set at $25,000.
Johnson was picked up on those charges after police pulled him over on Aug. 6 and charged him with driving while having a suspended/revoked license.
▪ James B. Wilson, 35, of Highland was arrested on Aug. 6 on a warrant from Highland police for failure to appear in court on a charge of having an expired vehicle registration. He posted bond.
HPD misdemeanor citations, tickets

▪ A juvenile, 16, of Highland was charged with speeding.
Aug. 4
▪ No tickets issued.
Aug. 5
▪ Colton A. Talbot, 19, of Highland was charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor.
Aug. 6-7
▪ No other tickets issued.
Aug. 8
▪ Jason G. Schlecht, 44, of Nokomis, Ill., was charged with domestic battery for allegedly putting his hands around the throat of a female victim, attempting to choke her.
Aug. 9
▪ No tickets issued.
