New Douglas News for the week of Aug. 13

Troop 426 of New Douglas spent the day canoeing at Whispering Oaks in Salem, Ill., on Aug. 5. They discussed safety in canoe, learned how to communicate with the canoe mate, explore the lake and had the freedom to make decisions so they would not tip the canoe. The Juniors and Cadettes were paired with Brownies, and overall it went very well. The troop is looking forward to its camping trip in September to Camp Butterfly in the Farmington, Mo., area. Pictured are Joanna Fogg, Haleigh Rensing, Lexi Fogg, Hanna Rensing, Erin Brown, Cheyenne Choat, Elizabeth Brown, Caleope Smith, Wyatt Choat, and Mattie McNealy. Troop 426 will meet the second and fourth Wednesdays each month starting on Aug. 26 at the New Douglas Fire Department, 103 E. Allen St.
