Chalk-Art-in-the-Park held in Marine

What started out as a dismal, rainy, stormy day in Marine on Sunday, Aug. 9, soon became a lot brighter. The Village Park’s parking lot was transformed into an artist’s canvas as a group of eager young artists, ages five through fifteen, gather to draw their creations. Each child was given a 3-by-3-foot square to draw a picture depicting a character or object from a favorite story.

While judges were picking the best of each age group, children painted T-shirts and were treated to pizza, compliments of Little Caesar’s.

This is the second Chalk-Art-in-the-Park event that has been held in the Marine Village Park. The annual event is sponsored by the Marine Library and funded from a grant received from the Highland Area Community Foundation.
