Registration open for the Bradley R. Smith Memorial Scholarship Run in Troy

The sixth annual Bradley R. Smith Memorial Scholarship Run will take place on Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Tri-Township Park, 409 Collinsville Road in Troy.

The race in named in honor of Senior Airman Bradley Smith, who was raised in Troy and was a graduate of Triad High School. Smith, 24, was killed by a bomb blast on Jan. 3, 2010, near Kandahar Airfield in Afghanistan. He was posthumously awarded the Silver Star.

Proceeds from the 5K walk/run will help local students further their education through scholarships.

Registration starts at 7 a.m., and the race will begin at 8 a.m.

Pre-registration is $25 Fee. Forms must be received by Aug. 28 to get a T-shirt. $25 Fee Race-day registration is $30.Military recruits may run free of charge with no T-shirt. Registration forms are linked to this story.
