Chess club forms at Latzer Library in Highland
Latzer Library, under the direction of Nic Weiss, 2005 Illinois chess champion, now has a chess club. The idea of the club is to bring people together to extol the educational and entertainment value of chess.
Each session includes chess instruction, as well as play time. The program is recommended for anyone over the age of 6 and meets the third Monday of each month from 4 to 5 p.m. Participants are welcome to stay and play after the session.
Chess incorporates topics, such as languages, mathematics, and the
interaction of dynamic systems analysis of economics, computer programming, and engineering. In addition to all of these,
benefits, chess is fun.
