Alhambra news for the week of Sept. 17

Home Extension to meet

The Alhambra-Leef Home Extension Unit will meet on Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Alhambra Township Building. The Lesson, “Are You Listening,” will be given by Anita Cain and Candy Huckleberry. Hostesses will be Nell Garner and Jane Aper. 4-H members will be attending and report on their projects. Best Choice labels and can tabs are still needed. Visitors are always welcome.

Receive a free flu shot by registering for Health Fair

Registration for the free flu shots, compliments of the Alhambra Township Board, has begun.

Flu shots will be given at the Health Fair on Nov. 6 at the Alhambra Township Park from 9 a.m. to noon. Shots will be given from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Township Center for workers who cannot make the morning time slot. You must live in Alhambra or Alhambra Township to qualify for the free shots.

New banners are up

The new banners are up in the village. There are 2 styles. One has Alhambra written down the side and the other has Welcome.

Sports apparel sale to benefit HMS, Alhambra Primary

A sports apparel sale to benefit Highland Middle School and Alhambra Primary School will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19 at Highland Middle School, 2813 State Route 160 in Highland.

Items include T-shirts, sweatshirts, pants, shorts, hats and jackets for the St. Louis Cardinals, St. Louis Blues, St. Louis Rams, as well as college teams, such as Mizzou, Kentucky, Duke, Wisconsin, UNC and more. Companies include Nike, Reebok, Antiqua, Under Armour, Majestic and more. Blankets and other novelty items will also be also available. All items are up to 50 percent off regular retail prices. No backpacks or large purses will be allowed.

New Trash Service and Recycle Pick-up

The village has recently contracted with Sanders Waste System. As of Sept. 2, the trash and the recycling will be picked up on Wednesdays.

Residents are advised that the village has recycle bins and polycarts for those who need replacements. Contact the Village Hall, 602 West Main, to request replacements.
