Michael D. Stueber, 69, of Highland died on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015 his home.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 2 at Highland City Cemetery, with the Rev. Christopher W. Hill, senior pastor of Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland, officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland.

He was born on Friday, Feb. 22, 1946 in Highland to Bernell G. William and Violet F. (Hohrein) Stueber.

Mr. Stueber was reared in Highland and graduated from Highland High School in 1965. He served with the U.S. Army at Fort Hood, Texas. He worked at the Shell gas station in Highland, St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, Zurliene Trash Service, and he was custodian at the Highland School District from June 1988 until he retired on June 30, 2008. He also worked with Kenny Kapp finishing concrete. He collected antiques.

He was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland and Lee Iten American Legion Post 439 in Highland.

Survivors include a sister, Vicki L. (Deno) Zucca of Highland; a brother, Scott Allen Stueber of Collinsville; a sister-in-law, Priscilla A. Stueber (nee Taylor) of Highland; a former brother-in-law, Leonard L. (Jean) Schwarz of Highland; nephews, Douglas B. (Tonya) Stueber, Gregory C. (Charles Coffey) Schwarz and Christopher L. (Stacy) Schwarz; nieces, Elizabeth A. Schwarz, Lisa M. Schwarz-Beyer, Cindy J. (George) Kendall, Dawn R. Young and Patricia A. (Kevin) Townsend; and many great-nieces and -nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, who died on April 3, 1999; his mother, who died on Aug. 30, 2003; sisters, Peggy Ann Schwarz-Niggli, who died on Sept. 22, 1997, and Cindy Jo Stueber, who died on Nov. 2, 1969; a brother, Terry Bernell Stueber, who died on Jan. 23, 2009; and a nephew, Deno A. Zucca III, who died on Sept. 8, 2001.

Memorials may be made to the Highland Area Christian Service Ministries (HACSM) or to Highland Community Schools.
