Grantfork News for the week of Oct. 1
Village Yard Sales
Grantfork Yard Sales will be from Thursday, Oct. 1 from 3 to 7 p.m.; Friday, Oct. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, Oct. 3 from 8 a.m. to noon.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 21 , from noon to 8 p.m. on Oct. 22 and from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Oct. 23. An activation code will be sent on Oct. 1 so parents can schedule their child’s conference time with his/her teacher. Sign up must be done by Oct. 15.
Students attending Grantfork Elementary will have their conferences at Grantfork. Alhambra Primary students will still have their conferences in Alhambra. Parents with a child in both buildings, should allow enough time for travel.
School News
The free Homework Hotline will be manned by SIU students whose area of expertise is in math and will only be a phone call away to help students in fifth to eighth grades. The hotline will be open from through May 6. Hours are Sunday through Thursday from 6 to 10 p.m. Call (618) 650-3072.
Textile Trailer at Grantfork Elementary
The trailer will be at the school from Sept. 25-Oct. 5.
Acceptable items
Clothing: Nothing wet, mildewed or on hangers in bin.
Shoes: Need to be paired, tied together or rubber banded. Not accepting: shoes with holes, winter insulated boots, house slippers, metal spikes, roller blades, ice skates, or spiked high heels more than 2 inches.
Accessories: Purses, handbags, backpacks, hats, belts, house hold linens (no carpets or rugs).
Toys: One-piece toys less than 12 inches. No puzzles, racetracks or board games. Can take building blocks or Legos, if bagged separately.
Books: No magazines, encyclopedias or hymnals.
This is a fundraiser for the benefit of both Alhambra and Grantfork schools.
