Ophthalmologist, cardiologist added to SJH medical staff
HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland has added an ophthalmologist and a cardiologist to its medical staff.
“St. Joseph’s Hospital will remain aggressive in efforts to identify, meet with and recruit primary care and specialty physicians so that local residents won’t have to travel away from Highland for health care services,” said Peggy Sebastian, president and CEO of St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Dr. Geoffrey Hill, M.D., is a licensed ophthalmologist in Illinois and Missouri. He also currently serves on staff at Hill Vision Services in Creve Coeur, Mo. Dr. Hill will perform cataract and corneal surgeries at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.
“Ophthalmology continues to be a specialty care growth area for St. Joseph’s Hospital, and by welcoming Dr. Hill to our surgery medical staff, we’re prepared to experience more growth because of his experience and clinical background,” Sebastian said.
Dr. James Lee, M.D., is a triple board-certified specialist in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease, and internal medicine.
“The addition of Dr. Lee to our ever-growing medical staff strengthens St. Joseph’s Hospital’s position as the hometown healthcare provider of choice,” Sebastian said. “Dr. Lee’s extensive expertise provides greater access allowing local residents to stay in Highland for their cardiology care.”
Dr. Lee joins Dr. Pavan Gupta, M.D., a board-certified specialist in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease, on the St. Joseph’s Hospital cardiac care team. Dr. Gupta joine SJH in October 2012.
Together, Dr. Lee and Dr. Gupta are affiliated with Prairie Heart Institute of Illinois (PHII), a community-based cardiovascular network of hospitals that offer cardiovascular clinics staffed by Prairie Cardiovascular cardiologists. The network hospitals of the Prairie PHII– of which St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland is a member, offer the “highest level of cardiovascular care possible.”
