Barbara M. Ogaz, 88, of Sonoma, Calif., died on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, at her daughter’s home in Highland, fortified by sacraments.
A funeral Mass will be held at a later date in Sonoma, Calif. Burial will be in Mountain Cemetery in Sonoma, Calif. Meridith Funeral Home in Highland is in charge of arrangements.
She was born on July 25, 1927 in Tremonton, Utah, to Lawrence and Lucy (Thompson) Fryer. On June 19, 1948, she married Lawrence Ogaz at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ogden, Utah. He survives.
Mrs. Ogaz was a homemaker for nine children. Later, she owned and operated a welding/industrial supply company with her husband.
She liked to sew. When her children were young, she would sew their clothing. For her grandchildren, she sewed teddy bears and dolls.
She was an avid reader and a good cook. While living with her daughter, she enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals baseball games with her son-in-law.
She was a member of St. Francis Scolano in Sonoma, Calif.
Other survivors include her children, Mary Ann (Norman) Wirz of Highland, Ron (Debra) Ogaz of Los Gatos, Calif., Teresa Ogaz of Necedah, Wis., Judith Jones of Sonoma, Calif., Marti (Stephen) Moran of San Diego, Calif., Jeannette (Richard) Tholcke of Napa, Calif., James (Michelle) Ogaz of Williams, Calif., and Karen Murray of Necedah, Wis.; 37 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ross Fryer of Fort Collins, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David Ogaz; a brother, Stanley Fryer; and a sister, Evone Swertfiger.
