New Douglas Baptist Church events
New Douglas Baptist Church is moving its trunk-or-treat up to the Township Park pavilion area at 6 p.m. on Oct. 31 this year, after the Halloween Parade and Party at the Park.
A live Nativity meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 6:30 at New Douglas Baptist Church. The Nativity date is set for Dec. 12 at New Douglas Township Park, with 6 and 7 p.m. showings.
The Operation Christmas Child box collection and parade will be during the 10:40 a.m. service on Nov. 15.
The Senior Citizens Thanksgiving Dinner will be at 6 p.m. on Nov. 18 at New Douglas Baptist Church.
On Dec. 31 at 7 p.m., NDBC will hold at watch night service. Games, food, and midnight prayer service. Location to be announced.
Halloween parade is Saturday
New Douglas’ third annual Halloween Parade & Part at the Park is set for Halloween night.
The parade will begin at 5 p.m. on Halloween night, Saturday, Oct. 31. Parade lineup will be at 4:15 p.m. at the American Legion, 405 N. 4th St. Floats will be judged in the line.
A costume contest for children and adults will be held at the American Legion from 4 to 4:30 p.m.
The parade route will run from the American Legion down W. Douglas Street to Main Street and end at New Douglas Township Park.
Cash prizes will be awarded at the Party at Park, which will follow the parade. The festivities at the park, which will include hayrides and music, will run until 10 p.m. There will be a goodie bag for each child. Drinks, caramel apples and hot dogs will be served at the park as well. There will also be a pumpkin carving contest at 6 p.m. Bring your carved pumpkin to the park to be judged. Cash prizes will be awarded.

3-on-3 basketball tournament set at Rec Plex
A 3-on-3 basketball tournament will be held at the New Douglas Rec Plex Dec. 5, 12 and 19. Games will start at 11 a.m. all three days. Cost is $10 per team ($5 goes to the Rec Plex). Names and money must be turned in by Nov. 21. For more information, call Jeremy or Mike at (217) 456-1069.
Flyers Grill plans grand opening
Flyers Grill grand opening is set for Oct. 30 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. There will be a bounce house for kids 12 and under, sodas and all ice cream items 1/2 off, and 25 different drawings for gift certificates. Visit Flyers on Oct. 31 after the Halloween parade for trick-or-treating.
NDVFD plans fall breakfast fundraiser
On Sunday, Nov. 8, the New Douglas Volunteer Fire Department will have a breakfast fundraiser from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the fire house, 105 E. Allen St. in New Douglas. The all-you-can-eat breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, bicuits and gravy, homemade donuts and drinks. Cost is $7 for adults; $5 for children ages 5 to 10; and children 4 and under eat free. Carry-outs will be available at adult price.
The Highland-Pierron Fire Department will also be bringing its Fire Prevention Demonstration Trailer to the breakfast.

The Masonic Lodge meets every third Wednesday at 7 p.m.
