Highland American Legion seeks Boys State, Youth Police Program participants

Illinois Boys State is a week that shares a lifetime and it will be held at Eastern Illinois University on June 11-17, 2016. This is one of the premier Americanism programs that the American Legions sponsors.

All boys must have completed their junior year in high school and must have one semester in high school to complete after attending Illinois Boys State.

Illinois Boys State is a unique lifetime experience. It is an opportunity for young men from across the state to meet in a college campus environment. The cost of the program for the individual is paid by Lee Iten Post 439 or a private donor.

There will be brochures available at the meeting and a Post 439 representative available to speak with you.

The Youth Police Program will be held June 26- July 1, 2016 at the Camp Lincoln Training Center in Springfield.

Males and females must be ages 14-16. Participants must have reached their 14th birthday, but have not reached their 17th birthday by June 26, 2016.

The primary purpose of the Youth Police Program is to establish an inter personal relationship between the youth of our state and law enforcement officers, in order to create a better understanding of the problems and attitudes of both groups. and to develop a rapport between youth and the police.

The cost of the program for the individual is paid by Lee Iten Post 439.. There will brochures available at the meeting and a Post 439 representative available to speak with you.
