Totenfest, a service of remembrance, will be held on Sunday, Nov. 22 at the 10 a.m. worship service. Dec. 17 Christmas Program at Alhambra Primary. Grades K-1 will be from 6:30 to 7 p.m., and grades 2-3 will perform from 7:30 to 8 p.m.

Bread of Life Food Pantry looking for donations

The Bread of life Food Pantry serves the families of Alhambra, Hamel and Worden, as well as some of the small communities in the area. With an increase of 40 percent in the number of families in need, the food pantry is in need of a larger building.

The pantry is located on the campus of the New Life Christian Fellowship in Hamel and is trying to raise $7,000 in order to increase the size of its building. Any donations made may be sent to: Alhambra/Hamel Ministerial Alliance or AMHA, 1117 W. North Street, Alhambra, IL 62001. Please put “Building Fund’ on the memo line of the check. All donations are tax deductible.

Deer Meat Needed

For those who like to hunt, but do not want the deer meat, consider donating it to a food pantry. Grantfork Meats will process the meat for the for local pantries at no charge. Contact, Kirby Knackstedt at the meat market at 675-2155.

Alhambra Primary

Christmas

This year, the school will do a Winter Wonderland instead of a Santa Breakfast. This will take place on Friday, Dec. 4 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. This will include a raffle, and each class will make a gift basket with different themes:

▪ The Pre-K class will do “Kids Craft Time”

▪ Kindergarten, “Princess/Super- heroes”

▪ First grade, “Game Night”

▪ Second Grade, “Movie Night”

▪ Third Grade, “Christmas/Winter Fun”

The school Christmas program will be held on Friday, Dec. 4 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m..

Christmas break: Classes will dismiss at 2:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 22, and school will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016.

Milk Caps

Thanks to all the parents and the community for sending in their Prairie Farms milk caps. The school received 1,000 caps and with help from the PTO and parents. The codes were entered into the program, and the PTO earned $50 to go toward something for the schools.

Raging River tickets

Students are working toward earning the Raging River tickets by reading, or for those who cannot read yet, by being read to. Students must read 150 pages by Dec. 4. Tickets will be handed out to those who complete their goal on the last day of the school year.
