Sausage supper sets record
The sausage supper set another record this year with 1,574 dinners bought. This is up from last year’s total by 149 people.
A total of 2,500 pounds of pork sausage was prepared, 102 gallons of green beans, 66 gallons of sauerkraut, 46 gallons of apple sauce, 45 gallons of milk, and 24 roasters of potatoes were prepared with 3 gallons of gravy.
Raffle winners were:
- Kaylyn Miles, quilt;
- Bob Driemeyer, baby quilt:
- Rick Porter, pillow cases;
- Karen Warnecke and Lee Rinderer, $25;
- Margaret Groboski and Nelson Motter, pork sausage; and
- baskets, Gladys Wahl and Amy Sawyer.
Holiday Services
A Totenfest service will be observed on Sunday, Nov. 22 during the 10:15 a.m. worship service. This will commemorate the passing of the Rev. Harold “Jack” Paul, Patty Payne, Edith Determan, Tom Reinacher, George “Sonny” Beck and Barry Essenpreis.
The hanging of the greens will be on Nov. 29, following worship service. The lighting of the tree will be on Dec. 6 after Santa’s visit to the village of Grantfork. Refreshments will be served following the Village Christmas Party.
Community Thanksgiving service
The Highland Area Ministerial Alliance will hold its annual community Thanksgiving Worship Service on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 6 p.m. This year’s worship service will be held at Highland Evangelical United Church of Christ. The minister has not been decided yet. The offering will go to the Highland Area Christian Service Ministry food pantry.
Deer meat can be donated to food pantries
For those who like to hunt, but do not want the deer meat, consider donating it to a food pantry. Grantfork Meats will process the meat for the for local pantries at no charge. Contact, Kirby Knackstedt at the meat market at 675-2155.

Dec. 7 Christmas Program for Highland Primary, grade 2, at 7 p.m. in the HE Auditorium
Dec. 8 Band concert for grades 6-12 in the HMS gym at 7 p.m.
Dec. 10 Christmas Program for Highland Primary, kindergarten, at 7 p.m. in the HE Auditorium
Dec. 11 & 12 Madrigal Dinner at Highland High School at 6:30 p.m. in the HHS Bulldog Square
Dec. 13 Madrigal Dinner at Highland High School at 5 p.m. in the HHS Bulldog Square
Dec. 15 Christmas Program at Grantfork Elementary at 7 p.m. in Grantfork
Dec. 17 Christmas Program at Alhambra Primary. Grades K-1 will be from 6:30 to 7 p.m., and grades 2-3 will perform from 7:30 to 8 p.m.
