In the spirit of St. Francis to be environmentally-friendly, HSHS St. Joseph’s in Breese will collect unwanted holiday lights for recycling starting Monday, Nov. 30, and continuing thru Friday, Jan. 15.
Collection tubs will be in the hospital Front Lobby and Physician Office Building atrium with a third tub in the east entrance for hospital colleagues and volunteers.
“Tons of holiday lights are discarded each year” said hospital Purchasing Director Carl Kuhl. “We want to do our part in keeping this recyclable product out of our landfills.”
Lights and light strands should be removed from any cardboard or plastic packaging and dropped loose – not in a plastic or paper bag – into the collection bins. Lights may be left on the strings.
