St. Jacob & Marine News for the week of Dec. 3

Marine Homemakers

On Dec. 15, the Marine Homemakers will gather at the Senior Citizens Center for their annual Christmas Party. The club will eat at 6:30 p.m., with food being catered by the Parkview Café. If you did not make your reservation along with your choice of meat at the October meeting and plan to attend, please call Wilma Tabor at 887-4461 by Dec. 11. Again, the meat choices are turkey and roast pork. Cost for the dinner is $10 and is payable that night. Please bring a $2 game prize. For those wishing to donate monetary donations to H.I.S. K.I.D.S. or food items for the food pantry, those doantions will also be collected that night. Membership dues for 2016 is $12 and will also be collected. Hope to see you at the party.

January meeting will be held on Jan. 19 at 7:30 p.m. The lesson will be “Making Your Dollars Stretch,” presented by Dawn Dykes and Sandy Gentry. Hostesses for the evening are Sue Vallee and Mary Gross.

St. Jacob Lions to host special bingo

St. Jacob Lions will have a special bingo on Dec. 19. They will give out 20 hams for Christmas.

The bingo is held at the St. Jacob Activity Center, located at the intersection of Second and Douglas streets, on every Saturday night starting at 7 p.m. Doors open at 5 p.m. Food is sold by various organizations during the evening beginning about 5:30 p.m. There will be free popcorn.

For only $5 you can play six cards and have an evening of fun and socializing and you could win a turkey or ham.

Profits from the bingo are used to support the Lions Club activities. For more information, call 644-2378, or call St. Jacob Activity Center at 644-LION (5466) on Saturday bingo nights only.

Note: Because of the holidays, there will be no bingo on Saturdays, Dec. 26 and Jan. 3.

Triad School District to hold holiday concerts

Dec. 10 Triad High School Band Holiday Concert in the gym at 7 p.m.

Dec 15 Triad Middle School Band concert at 7 p.m.

Dec. 17 Triad Middle School Band and Choral Christmas Concert at 7 p.m.; St. Jacob Elementary Holiday Sing-A-Long at 2 p.m.

Dec. 18 Marine Elementary Holiday Program at 9 a.m.

St. Jacob Christmas in the Village is Dec. 4

St. Jacob will hold Christmas in the Village for St. Jacob residents on Friday, Dec. 4 at the Activity Center. Santa will arrive at 6 p.m. Santa will have stockings for the children, who can also get their photo taken with him. There will be sweets and hot chocolate.

Marine Christmas in the Park set for Dec. 11

Christmas in the Park is located in the heart of Marine, the Village Park. Lights get turned on Thanksgiving night and will be on every night thereafter, for drive by viewing, until just after Christmas. Free refreshments and hot dogs can be enjoyed near a warm bonfire on Friday, Dec. 11. Santa will arrive at 6:30 p.m.

Communal Penance Service

There will be Mass on Thursday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. at St. Jerome in Troy.

Christmas Masses

There will be Mass on Thursday, Dec. 24 at 5 and 10 p.m. at St. Jerome in Troy and at 7:30 p.m. at St. Elizabeth in Marine.

Christmas Day Masses will be held on Friday, Dec. 25 at 8:30 a.m. at St. Jerome in Troy and 10:30 a.m. at St. James in Saint Jacob.

New Year’s services

Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God, Vigil Masses will be held on Dec. 31 at 5 p.m. at St. Jerome in Troy and at 6:30 p.m. at St. Elizabeth in Marine.

Solemnity of Mary, the Holy Mother of God, Mass will be held on Jan. 1 at 8:30 a.m. at St. James in St. Jacob and 10:30 a.m. at St. Jerome in Troy.

DuBois Center Christmas Party

The party will be at Oak Lodge on Saturday, Dec. 5. Reservations are required.

Hoyleton Gift Tags

Hoyleton Christmas Gift Tags are available. There is a sign-up list . Please write your name on the sign-up list on the image of the tag you take. Attach your tag to the outside of your gift. The last day to bring gifts to church is Sunday, Dec. 6.

Sausage/Poinsettia orders

Order forms for sausage/meat from the St. Jacob Brotherhood and poinsettias for Christmas are available today at the church in the pews and on the table in Heritage Hall. The last day to order sausage/meat is Sunday, Dec. 6. The last day to order poinsettias is Tuesday, Dec. 15.

Giving Tree

The church is again participating with the other churches in the village to provide gifts and food for families within St. Jacob Township. You may use any envelope in pew racks to make a donation. Please write “Giving Tree” on the envelope. The last day for these donations will be Dec. 13.
