Clinton County Electric to refund $200,000 to membership

Clinton County Electric Cooperative’s Board of Trustees approved a one-time $200,000 refund back to their membership at their regular meeting on Nov. 24.

Members will see their portion of the refund as a bill credit on the bills due Dec. 28. The average single phase account will receive a bill credit of approximately $25. The refund will appear on the bill as “2015 Patronage Refund.”

“Our operating margins are over budget for the year, and we felt it best to return those dollars to the membership this year instead of retaining them for future patronage retirements,” said CCECI Board Chairman Vernon Mohesky. “Since the bills will be due near Christmas, our thought was the bill reduction would help the membership in a possible time of need.”

Mohesky said cooperative wants to ensure the membership understands this will not be an annual occurrence.
