Many Christmas plays, concerts set in the Highland area

First Baptist to present Christmas musical

First Baptist Church of Highland will celebrate the birth of Christ through drama and song on Sunday morning, Dec. 20 starting at 10:15 a.m. First, the Adult Choir will present the Christmas cantata, Joy to the World. Immediately after, the children of the church will reenact the birth of Christ, using the text from Luke 2 and Matthew 2 as a backdrop, interspersed with congregational singing of some of the most beloved Christmas carols.

Faith Baptist to host live Nativity

Faith Baptist Church, which is located across from the Korte Recreation Center in Highland, will also present a live Nativity from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18 and Saturday, Dec. 19. Refreshments will be served, and those who attend can register for a special Christmas drawing.

ABMen to host Christmas party

The ABMen at Highland First Baptist will have their annual Christmas party on Saturday evening, Dec. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Randy’s House of BBQ. Attendees will pay for their own meals. Contact 654-4145 if you would like to attend.

First Congregational to host programs

On Sunday, Dec. 20, an impromptu Children’s pageant and birthday party for Jesus will be held at 10:15 a.m. at First Congregational Church in Highland

On Tuesday, Dec. 22 the church will be having a Christmas Open House. Starting at 7 p.m., there will be live Christmas music in the candlelit sanctuary and hot chocolate.

EvUCC to hold cantata

The Christmas cantata will be at 9 a.m. on Dec. 20 at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Highland.

New Douglas

Baptist Church to hold Christmas play

The church will be collecting non-perishable items for Christmas baskets. Have your donations dropped off at the church by Sunday, Dec. 20.

The church will celebrate of the Lord and Savior’s birth on Sunday, Dec. 20 services, which will start at 10:40 a.m. The Christmas play will also be held that evening at 6 p.m.

Grantfork

UCC to hold cantata, play

The Sunday school Christmas program for Grantfork United Church of Christ, Standing Room Only In Bethlehem Inn, adapted from a play by John Carter, will be at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20.

The Chancel Choir Christmas cantata Breath of Heaven, by Russell Mauldin and Sue Smith, will be at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20.

St. Jacob

UCC to host Sunday school program

The Sunday school Christmas program will be on Sunday, Dec. 20 during regular 10:15 a.m. worship.

Troy

UMC to host Kid’s Christmas Workshop

All children are invited to the Kid’s Christmas Workshop on Saturday, Dec. 19 from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Troy United Methodist Church, 407 Edwardsville Road in Troy. This free event will feature some music, puppets, refreshments, opportunity for kids to make gingerbread houses and some Christmas tree ornaments. RSVP at www.troyumc.org, organizers can prepare.

Alhambra

Salem UCC Guild & Brotherhood to hold pot-luck

The Guild and Brotherhood at Salem will hold their annual Christmas pot-luck at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17.

On Tuesday, Dec. 22 at 6 p.m., the children will have a practice for their Christmas Eve program.
