MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) testing will begin next week. Grades 1 and 2 will test from Jan. 19-22, and kindergarten will test from Jan. 25-29.

Six Flags “Read to Succeed” program has begun. Students are urged to read a total of 6 hours (360) minutes on or before Feb. 19. Parents need to keep a log of time read. Any student meeting the criteria is eligible for a free Six Flags ticket.

A total of 53 students achieved perfect attendance for the second quarter of school. There were 32 students with perfect attendance for the entire first semester.

The next PTO meeting will be held Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Alhambra Primary. The PTO received a check for the Box Tops that were turned in. The check was for $1,006.70.

There will be no school on Monday, Jan. 18 in observance of Martin Luther King Day.

Salem United Church of Christ

The 156th Annual Meeting will be held Jan. 31,following the 10 a.m. worship service.

Saturday, Jan. 30 is the date for the 68th annual Sausage Supper. Serving will be from 2:30 to 8 p.m. Early sausage sales will be on Thursday, Jan. 28 from noon to 6 p.m., and on Saturday, Jan. 30 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
