Local Catholic parishes offer speaker series during Lent
The Tri-Parish Cluster — which comprises St. Jerome Church in Troy, St. James Church in St. Jacob, and St. Elizabeth Church in Marine — is again offering a speaker series for the six Thursdays of Lent.
“This series was incredibly popular last Lent when it was first introduced, and parishioners immediately expressed an interest in having another speaker series for this Lent. We heard so many positive comments about how helpful this series was for attendees’ on-going spiritual growth and formation all year long,” said Janet Highlander of St. James Parish. “The speakers bring a wealth of knowledge, practical experience and enthusiasm in living and sharing their faith.”
The evenings begin with an optional, simple supper at 6 p.m., an inspirational presentation followed by dialogue from 6:30 to 8 p.m., and optional, light refreshments and fellowship from 8 to 8:30 p.m.
The speaker series, geared for those 18 and older, is open to anyone who is interested. Those who wish to join the light supper are asked to register at www.stjeromeparish.org for planning purposes.
Funding for the speakers is being provided through the Harvest of Thanks, Springtime of Hope campaign for adult faith formation offered through the Diocese of Springfield, Ill
