Highland Garden Club to learn about bonsai
The Highland Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25 in the upstairs meeting rooms (Nos. 2 and 3) at the Korte Recreation Center.
Alex Livingston from Effingers Garden Center will give a presentation on bonsai and other houseplants. Bonsai, which literally means “planting in a tray,” is a Japanese art form using miniature trees grown in containers.
Livingston can create and design custom planters of colorful annuals for porch or patio. Houseplants and bonsai are only two of his specialties. He will be bringing three to six bonsai to the meeting.
The Highland Garden Club meets monthly on the fourth Thursday of each month. The mission of the club is: “To plant the seeds of knowledge, cultivate friendships, grow in our appreciation of nature, harvest ideas, and preserve the beauty of our community.”
