Marine HCE to meet
The Marine Home and Community Education will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Marine Senior Citizens Building. The lesson for the evening will be “Healthy Living with Essential Oils,” presented by Bev White and Mary Lou Strong. The hostesses for the evening are Janet Huene and Priscilla Plocher. Due to the cancellation of the January meeting, that lesson will be presented at a later date. Officers (both unit and county) will be elected in April to take over in June. Members should be thinking about volunteering for a position. Everyone is invited to attend HCE meetings.
Marine Library to hold used book sale
The Marine Library announced that its Winter Book Sale will be held on Thursday, Feb. 25 — one day only. The library will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the library is offering a plastic bag of books for $2. Also, follow the library on Facebook at facebook.com/marineillibrary.
Annual TMS Blood Drive Date Set
On Thursday, Feb. 11, Triad Middle School will be hosting its annual blood drive with the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center. The blood drive will last from 2 to 7 p.m. and be held in the small gym. Last year, TMS collected a record of 39 units of blood. This year, TMS has hopes of exceeding that number and collect 45 units.

St. Jacob Elementary to host trivia night
St. Jacob Elementary’s eighth annual trivia night and silent auction will be held on Friday, March 4 at the school. Doors open at 6 p.m., and trivia begins at 7 p.m.
Soda and water will be available for purchase. Bring your own table snacks. No alcohol is permitted.
Cost is $100 per table (maximum 10 players). Early bird registration is $90, but must be received by Feb. 12 Please be respectful of other players, no small children. Walk-in teams are welcome, but subject to table availability. No-show tables will be considered a donation, Cash and checks only. Make checks payable to: St. Jacob PTO St. Jacob Elementary School Trivia Night Reservation. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place and best decorated table. There will also be a 50-50 drawing, heads or tails, and mulligans will be available for purchase.

St. James Church to host trivia night
St. James Catholic Church in St. Jacob is sponsoring its fifth annual trivia night on Saturday, Feb. 27 at the St. Jacob Community Building, 108 W. 2nd St. Doors open at 6 p.m., and trivia starts at 7 p.m. Cost is $100 per team of eight.
Reserve your table ahead of time by contacting Laura Reilson at 644-9278 or reils4@hometel.com or Dan or Sharon Dickman at 644-3561 or sdickman@hometel.com. Or, you can get your table that night, space permitting. The limit is 18 tables.
Participants may bring own table snacks. Beverages must be purchased at the event. No outside drinks will be allowed.
Cash prizes will be awarded. There will be a 50-50 drawing and a special intermission game and a drawing for a Lottery tree. A silent auction will be held, featuring prizes donated by businesses and theme-based baskets donated by parishioners.
