Grantfork news for the week of Feb. 25

Grantfork Elementary

A total of 42 students turned in their reading logs and will receive a free ticket to Six Flags for participating in the “Read to Succeed” program.

Kindergarten registration is now underway. Anyone with a child who will be 5 years old by Sept. 1, 2016 may get their child registered by calling Alhambra Primary at 488-2200 during school hours. A few questions will be asked, and then in April, a detailed letter will be sent out with all the information needed to finish the application. Visitation will be on May 6.

Alhambra and Grantfork Schools will combine to hold a Eureka Math Night on Thursday, March 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Alhambra Primary. The purpose of this evening will be to share information and to ease some of the concerns about the math program.

The PTO Bowling fundraiser will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27 at the Poplar Junction Bowling Alley. Teams are still signing up, and if you don’t have enough people, chances are you can combine with another team.

There will also be a silent auction.

A Domino’s Night will be held on March 8. Eat in or carry out ,and the PTO will receive a percentage of what is sold.

Box Tops need to be turned into the school by March 1. Last year, the PTO earned $1,000 from this fundraiser.

Grantfork UCC

The annual rummage sale will be on Thursday, March 17 from 3 to 7 p.m.; on Friday, March 18 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and on Saturday, March 19 from 8 a.m. to noon. Items may be placed to the back of the stage in the Educational Building. Please label for sale or for the textile trailer. Please, no TVs.

Lenten Service will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 7 p.m at Friedens UCC in Troy.
