Highland City Council approves appointments, tourism funding

The Highland City Council on Feb. 1 approved Mayor Joe Michealis’ appointments to the Cemetery Board of Managers and Silver Lake Advisory Commission, as well as funding for Art in the Park and the Highland Chamber of Commerce.

The council approved the city’s annual disbursement to the Highland Chamber of Commerce. The city will give the chamber $24,000 in hotel/motel tax dollars to be used in the promotion of tourism activities.

The council also approved being a Benefactor sponsor of Art in the Park for another year. The city will sponsor the annual fall art festival to the tune of $8,000.

In other business, Sally Raeber, Ronald Wagner and David Frey were all re-appointed to the Silver Lake Advisory Commission. Each will serve a three-year term. Dennis Rinderer was also re-appointed to a two-year term on the Cemetery Board of Managers.
