Automotive Swap Meet set for Sunday in Highland

The 21st Indoor/Outdoor Automotive Swap Meet will be held Sunday, March 13 at the Highland Speedway and Madison County Exposition Hall at Lindendale Park.

As many a 200 vendors and a couple thousand people are expected for what is what of the largest automotive swap meets in the Midwest. The event will draw vendors from Kentucky, Indiana and Missouri, as well as Illinois. The large number and variety of vendors help draw the crowds.

The event is perfect for the dirt track racers, who are beginning to gear up for their summer racing season, because you can pretty much build a race car from the bottom up from parts being sold by vendors.

However, there is a little of everything available at their swap meet to cater to race car enthusiasts, the classic car contingent, street rod fans, four-wheel drive enthusiasts and antique buffs.

While some vendors are full-time professionals with displays carried from swap meet to swap meet, others are enthusiasts with a trailer or a pickup bed full of an assortment.

There will be memorabilia vendors selling all kinds of nostalgia — anything to do with automotive or racing nostalgia items, including racing apparel.

There is a $4 admission charge, with children under 12 admitted for free. The swap meet is open from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration and set-up from 5 to 7 a.m.
