New Highland Jaycees board is mix of veterans, newcomers
The Highland Jaycees have elected their board for the 2016, which will consist of many veteran members and some new faces as well.
Andrew Plocher was elected as president of the Highland chapter. Plocher, 24, has held several other positions in the Jaycees over the years from Highland’s state director, individual development, community vice president, and Region 5 director, to name a few. He originally joined the Jaycees to meet new people, help the community in which he lives, and better himself, as well as his career. Besides the Jaycees, Plocher enjoys woodworking, restoring his ’68 Camaro, assisting at Homestead Harvest Days, and being a forklift technician.
Lisa Winkler was elected as treasurer in 2016 for the second year in a row. Winkler, 28, is a CPA at Scheffel Boyle and has both a bachelor’s and master’s in accounting. Besides being in the Jaycees, she is also a Highland Chamber Ambassador and assists at multiple fests and fundraisers. She joined the Jaycees to help a good cause and make long-lasting personal and professional relationships, while making the community a better place.
Allie Zobrist was elected as the vice president of chapter management for the 2016 board. Zobrist, 26, works as a customer service representative at B-Line by Eaton, and has a bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University. This is Zobrist’s first year on the Jaycees Board. She joined the Jaycees to spend time with other members in the community who enjoy giving back. She hopes to make the community a better place and provide her town with enjoyable local events.
David Sessions is Highland’s state director in 2016. This is his first time as a board member. Sessions, 25, currently is in a the Veterinarian Technician Program at Vatterott and works at Traveling Tails Doggy Daycare. In his spare time, he enjoys fishing, hunting, and woodworking. He joined the Jaycees to meet new people and help out in the community. He hopes to show people that even in the smallest amount of help can have a huge difference in someone’s life.
Sarah Burton, 27, from Trenton was elected as the membership vice president for 2016. She joined the Jaycees in 2015, not realizing how fast her passion for being involved as a Jaycee would grow. Her hope for 2016 is to make the new members feel welcome and get them involved within the chapter and the community. She currently works as a dental hygienist for The Smile Shoppe in Highland and at Florissant Dental Services in Florissant, Mo.
Brett Lanxon, 26, was elected as V.P. of community development, and this is his first year holding a board position. He currently works as an operations specialist at Stifel Nicolaus. He joined the Jaycees to be part of a great group that positively impacts the community and hopes to become a better leader, while challenging himself to do greater things.
Marissa Bowman, 27, is the V.P. of individual development for 2016. She was Highland’s state director in 2014, and management V.P. in 2015. Bowman studied urban planning at Ball State University and is currently a residential property manager at Terra Properties Inc. She hopes to help the community through volunteer work and originally joined the Jaycees to to give back to people in need.
Matthew Stallard, 31, was elected as secretary for the 2016 year, and this is his first year as a Jaycee member and board member. He graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a double-major in business administration and mass communications and currently works as a loan processor for National Bank in Edwardsville. He joined the Jaycees to give back to the community and make a positive impact in society. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
