Triad School District to hold kindergarten registration
Triad elementary schools will each host kindergarten family registration event on Thursday, April 7. Families seeking to enroll a kindergarten student (children who are age 5 on or before Sept. 1, 2016) will complete the residency and initial registration process at this time. Parents will have the ability to complete both registration and residency.
For both C.A. Henning and Silver Creek schools in Troy, residents will meet at Silver Creek Elementary. Registration will be from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., and an informational meeting will be from 5 and 6 p.m. in the building gymnasium.
For the St. Jacob and Marine schools, residents will meet at their respective schools. Registration will start at 5:30 p.m., and an informational meeting at 6 p.m. in each building’s gymnasium.
In order for your child to be registered for kindergarten for the 2016- 2017 school year, bring proof of residency and an original birth certificate. Proof of residency requires:
Category 1 (one required): Mortgage papers (homeowner), current lease, property tax statement, letter from trailer park manager, renter’s letter from landlord or Madison County occupancy permit.
Category II (three required): Driver’s license, vehicle registration, vehicle insurance card, voter registration card, current library card, recent utility bill (gas, electric), recent cable TV or credit card bill, receipt for moving van rental, current Public Aid card, home/rental insurance policy.
Child care will be provided for children ages 3 to 10 years of age. Contact your appropriate school at the following numbers: Silver Creek Elementary, 667-5401; Marine Elementary, 667-5404; St. Jacob Elementary, 644-2541.
Triad band to host breakfast
Triad High School’s Breakfast with the Band to be held Saturday, April 2 from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Troy United Methodist Church, 407 Edwardsville Road in Troy. All-you-can-eat pancakes, waffles and sausage will be served. Tickets will be sold at the door. Carry-outs will be available. “Dancing with the THS Stars” fundraiser set at Triad
Triad News Today will be hosting “Dancing with the THS Stars” on Friday, April 1 at 7 p.m. in the cafetorium. This is a joint fundraiser for the video production class and Got Your Six Support Dogs in Maryville.
THS “Stars” have been diligently rehearsing dance numbers with their TNT partners. Several dance genres will be presented including hip hop, Broadway, salsa, the ’80s, and even a tap routine. Dancers include Mr. Josh Ackerman, who is partnered with Olivia Bosaw, Deputy Kip Heinle and Chelsea Crockett, Ms. JoAnn Mitzel and Mason Montague, Mr. Lee Coakley and Yvonne Pereira, Mrs. Kelli Barbour and Cole Witzig, Mr. Aaron Cole and Becka Bahn, Mr. Curtis James and Dallas Jones, Mrs. Stephanie Potthast and Cameron Little, and Mrs. Kate Brendel with Jasmine Hutchinson and Maddi Stauffer.
Contestants will be judged by a panel of judges from the community, including Dr. and Mrs. Winslow and Kelly Tracy. In addition to the Judges’ Favorite, mirror-ball trophies will be awarded to the Audience Favorite and Most Creative.
Got Your Six Support Dogs will be in attendance with some K-9s, which are being trained as support dogs for veterans and first responders.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and may be purchased at the door.
