Township to hold annual meeting
The Annual Alhambra Township meeting will be held on April 19 at 7 p.m. at the Alhambra Township Center. The April meeting will follow immediately after the annual meeting.
Hitz Memorial Home Blessing Concert
Hitz Memorial Home will host a Blessings Benefit Concert at Salem United Church of Christ on Sunday, April 10 at 3 p.m. Area churches and Hitz residents will perform. A blessing offering will be taken to fund the update of the kitchen/activity area that is used by the residents daily. This concert is sponsored by Hitz Auxiliary Board.
Alhambra Primary News
Students will be enjoying Earth Day activities on April 21. They will need some clean recyclable items, such as plastic water bottles, milk jugs, plastic bags and aluminum cans.
The last day of school will be May 20, and there will be no school on May 19, due to teachers institute.
The next PTO meeting will be on April 19 at 6:30 at Grantfork Elementary.
Grass And Property Ordinance
It is an ordinance within the village of Alhambra that all premises and exterior property shall be maintained free from weeds or growth in excess of 10 inches. All noxious weeds are prohibited. Property must be free from any accumulation of rubbish or garbage. Disposal shall be done in a clean and sanitary manner by placing the rubbish in approved containers.
Mosquitoes
Mosquitoes need 5 days to hatch in still water. Help eliminate breeding sites by contacting the village at 488-3505 for larvicide or more information.
Alhambra Morning Glories 4-H
Members received their new project book for this year. After hearing some fun facts about Taiwan, a “Flat Stanley” boy and girlwere cut out to be sent to Taiwan. The next meeting of the 4-H will be on Monday, April 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the Township Center.
Street Lights
Residents are asked to report street lights that are out to the village hall at 488-3505. Leave a message on the answering machine if call is not during office hours. Please give the location of the light.
Zoning
Alhambra has a zoning ordinance in effect. Any building or remodeling projects should contact the Zoning Officer, Ralph Buzick at 488-2701 for permits or information.
Fire Department Scholarship
The Alhambra Fire Department is offering a $500 scholarship.
Applicants must be living in the Alhambra Fire District and be a graduating senior in 2016.
Forms may be picked up at Highland High School, or call John Mindrup at (618) 409-3941 to get the applications. The deadline for applying is April 15.
Applications will be assessed and recipient chosen by an independent company.
Vincent Cemetery to hold clean up day
The clean up day for Vincent Cemetery will be Saturday, April 16. Volunteers are asked to be at the cemetery at 8 a.m. Bring any type yard tool you think may be needed, such as, shovels, rakes, weed whips, etc. In the event it is raining, volunteers will try for the next weekend. Call Ron Mindrup at 488-7108 with any questions.

Alhambra Yard Sales
The annual Alhambra Yard Sales will be held from May 5-7 this year. Maps will be available, compliments of Yvonne Green of Equity Fifty-Five. Call Jessie Ketchum at (618) 580-5314 to have your sale put on the map for free.
