Highland area police briefs for the week of March 28-April 3

Troy man killed in motorcycle crash
The St. Clair County Coroner’s Office identified Luis Cruz, 36, of Troy as the fatal victim in a crash that occurred early Friday morning on the southbound I-55/70 ramp to southbound Illinois 3 in East St. Louis. Illinois State Police Trooper Calvin Dye Jr. said a 911 caller reported seeing a wrecked motorcycle and a body in the roadway at 3:27 a.m. Friday. The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in that crash, Dye said. Accident reconstruction investigators arrived shortly after 6 a.m. and kept the ramp closed for an hour and a half.

▪ Brittany Streeb, 21, of Highland was charged with driving while having a suspended/revoked license.
March 30
▪ Trent R. Gnaedinger, 20, of Highland was charged with theft for allegedly taking a Bladelight hunting knife, a ST300 utility tool and a live rabbit, having a total value of $207.04, from Rural King.
▪ Cody Schrumpf, 20, of New Douglas was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
▪ Lillian Hurley, 21, of Marine was charged with failure to stop/yield at an intersection.
March 31
▪ Tony B. Hereford, 21, of Highland; Brenden J. Shively, 18, of Collinsville; Emily J. Amos, 19, of Highland; and Tristen G. Hastings, 19, of Highland were all charged with possession of cannabis in the same incident. Amos and Hastings were additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
▪ Todd Strohbeck, 39, of Alton was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, driving while having a suspended/revoked license, and illegal transportation of alcohol.
April 1
▪ Roger Verdeyen, 46, of Troy was charged with not having a vehicle registration.
April 2
▪ No tickets issued.
April 3
▪ Joshua Coleman, 35, of Alton was charged with driving while having a suspended/revoked license and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.
