Highland area police briefs for the week of May 2-8

HPD misdemeanor warrant arrests
▪ Francis Gibson, 46, of Granite City was arrested by HPD on a St. Clair County warrant for failure to appear in court on a DUI charge. He was turned over to St. Clair County authorities.

May 2
▪ Beverly J. Huelsman, 44, of Highland was charged with retail theft for allegedly taking clothing and food items from Walmart.
May 3
▪ Chad Lowry Vandergriff, 25, of Granite City was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
May 4
▪ No tickets issued.
May 5
▪ Jerry Sugg, 73, of Highland was charged with disobeying a traffic signal/sign.
▪ Betty Jane Voss, 78, of Highland was charged with disobeying a traffic signal/sign.
May 6
▪ Brandon Smith, 25, of Pocahontas was charged with operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and disobeying a traffic control device.
May 7-8
▪ No tickets issued.
