Marine Library to hold book sale
A book sale will be held at Marine Library, located at 202 E. Silver in Marine, on Friday, May 20 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. — for one day only. Price is 25 cents per book or fill a plastic bag for $2. Money raised from book sale is used to defer operating expenses.
Pamphlet gives info on self-guided history tour of Marine
The Marine Historical Society has selected 10 historic homes (100-plus years old) for a driving tour in Marine. A pamphlet has been made as a guide and for information about these homes. The pamphlets are now available at the Marine Bradford Bank and the Marine Coin Company. The tour can be done at your leisure. The pamphlet is also attached to this story.

Marine Historical Society compling list of veterans
The Marine Historical Society and the Becker-Reding Post 702 American Legion of Marine have combined efforts to honor all veterans from the Marine area. A list of all veterans (living and deceased) is in the process of being compiled. If anyone knows of any veteran from the area, call (618) 972-0725.
Volunteers needed for hot air balloon event
The “Hot Air Balloons Over Marine” Committee of the Historical Society is seeking volunteers to help with the many children’s activities and operations of this grass roots event. To volunteer, contact Bill Weder at 887-2008 or (618) 530-5809.

The spring community yard sales will will take place Thursday, May 19 through Saturday, May 21.
Sons of the American Legion to host spaghetti dinner
St. Jacob Sons of the American Legion Squadron 665 will hold an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 22 at the St. Jacob Activity Center. The menu will include spaghetti with homemade meat sauce, bread, salad, tea and coffee. Cost is $8 for adults; $5 for children ages 4 to 10; and kids 3 and under eat free. St. Jacob American Legion Ladies Auxiliary will have desserts for sale.
