Madison County Treasurer Kurt Prenzler recognized State Bank of St. Jacob recently for its exemplary service in collecting property taxes during the past year.

Prenzler presented a “Top Performer” certificate to the bank.

“This award is presented to the financial institution in Madison County that performed the best at collecting real estate taxes in 2015,” Prenzler said.

The branch also received a gift certificate for a pizza party for bank employees.

There are more than 100 branches of banks and credit unions throughout the county that accept real estate tax payments during the tax season. The county collects taxes in four installments — July, September, October and December.

“Collector banks and credit unions are an easy and convenient way for taxpayers to make a payment,” Prenzler said.

The financial institutions collect approximately one quarter of the tax payments for the county. Visit www.madcotreasurer.org to find a list of collector banks and credit unions where you can pay.
