Schweizerfest is this weekend in Highland

The Highland Jaycees will host their annual Schweizerfest June 10-12 at the downtown Square in Highland. The event runs Friday evening from 7 p.m. to midnight, Saturday from noon to midnight, and Sunday from noon to 11 p.m.

Vendors will be selling a variety of cuisines and beverages, and there will be plenty of games, rides, and entertainment for both children and adults all three nights. Rides begin at noon on Saturday and Sunday, with a washers tournament on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. and a bags tournament on Sunday from noon till 4 p.m.

There will be a parade at 5 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday that showcase the local businesses and organizations in the community.

The entertainment for this year is packed with musical groups for everyone to enjoy. On Friday evening Avery Hill will be playing in the east tent from 7 to 11 p.m., and Buffalo Road will be in the west tent from 8 p.m. until midnight.

Saturday starts off with “Highland Idol” in the east tent from noon till 4 p.m., followed by Borderline from 7 until 11 p.m. The west tent has Blacktop Boulevard from 1 till 4 p.m. on Saturday, with “Off the Cuff Dueling Pianos” from 8 p.m. till midnight. Morgan Lady will be playing on the main stage from 4 until on 8 p.m. on Saturday.

On Sunday, the live entertainment begins with the Watershed String Band from noon until 4 p.m., followed up by The Next Best Thing from 6 until 10 p.m.; both of these groups will be in the west tent. The east tent will showcase the Fabulous Motown Review from 7 until 10 p.m.

The Schweizerfest will go on rain or shine and is one of the premier festivals in the St. Louis metro area.
