Hitz Auxiliary to host Mazzio’s night
A Hitz Home Auxiliary fundraiser will take place on Monday, July 18 from 5 to 9 p.m. At Mazzio’s Pizza in Highland. A percentage of each meal sold will go toward the Hitz Auxiliary.
Grantfork Homecoming
This year’s homecoming will be on Friday, Aug. 19 and Saturday, Aug. 20. The theme for the children’s parade will be “Vintage Toys.” The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m., both nights. For further information, contact Bryan Rutz (618) 616-8045. There will be a baseball tournament on Saturday, Aug. 20 and Sunday, Aug. 21. Adam Vosholler is the chairman of the ball tournament.
New Douglas Farmers Market running on Thursdays
New Douglas Village Market is open under the New Douglas Township Park Pavilion every Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., with B&K Bakery goods, Beckerts Meats, the Family Garden produce and fruits, Share the Soap handmade soaps and skin care products, Tupperware.
The market is a good time to meet friends, share a Popsicle or ice cream bar from the park concession stand and go home with some really good food.
The market is always looking for new vendors to share their local products. Local families with extra garden produce can get a free table at the market for the next two weeks, July 14 and 21.

Flapjack Breakfast
The seventh annual Alhambra-Hamel Ministerial Alliance (AHMA) Flapjack Breakfast will be held on Saturday, July 16 from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Hamel. Tickets are $10 each and may be bought at the Immanuel Church office or at Salem United Church of Christ office in Alhambra. This all-you-can-eat breakfast will help fund the Bread of Life Food Pantry, as well as help others in need. Come out and enjoy a great breakfast and wonderful fellowship, all for a good cause.
First Baptist to host gospel concert
First Baptist Church of Alhambra will be hosting a Southern gospel concert on Sunday, July 17 at 6:15 p.m. at the Alhambra Township Park in Pavilion No. 2. Two couples from Waterloo will perform a musical medley of gospel songs under the name, The Humble Servants. This 45-minute program will include refreshments of homemade ice cream and a variety of other desserts during a fellowship hour, after the concert. Everyone is welcome.
Morning Glories 4-H
The Morning Glories 4-H Club members are busy getting ready for the Madison County Fair and are in the planning stages for commemorating their 75th anniversary later in the year.
Lorie Raymond mentioned that the Reading Wagon is not being used this year. There was not anyone to run it twice a week, and the last couple years, very few children came out to get books to read. Anyone who would like to take over the Reading Wagon should talk to David Raymond, as the wagon belongs to him.

Hitz Home Residents will enjoy the country gospel group, New Jerusalem Singers on Tuesday, July 26 at 3 p.m.
Village Web Site
Villagers are invited to check out the village website at www.villageofalhambra.com. The website includes a list of all village officers, events, history and zoning codes. The sites will be used to notify the public of new events and important public notices.
Residents’ Phone Numbers
The Alhambra village clerk is asking all residents to see that the village office has a current phone number for each household. In the event of a water or gas leak, it may be necessary to contact someone immediately. Phone numbers will not be shared with anyone and will be used only to disseminate necessary information to residents.
