Hitz Home Residents will enjoy the country gospel group, New Jerusalem Singers on Tuesday, July 26 at 3 p.m.
Alhambra Care Center
Residents at ACC had a fun day with Fast Eddie, Ralph and Si playing songs to make the luau such fun for everyone. Professor Longhair and his puppets were around to entertain in the evening.
The residents spent some time learning about China and making Chinese hats to wear. Later, everyone celebrated Velma Henkhaus’ birthday with a cake brought in by her family. Debbie Young came in the evening and everyone enjoyed karaoke.
Mark Phelps brought in the old West with cowboy songs and hats. It was a busy week, and everyone enjoyed all the volunteers that came to entertain them.
Street Lights
Residents are asked to report street lights that are out to the village hall at 488-3505. Leave a message on the answering machine if call is not during office hours. Please give the location of the light. The village workers may not go down your street after dark so have no way of knowing the lights are out.
Sewer Problems
In the event of sewer problems, it may save money if you call the Alhambra village clerk’s office before calling a a sewer cleaning service, so the village mains can be checked first to assure they are not blocked. It is advised to not put baby wipes or so called disposable wipes and grease or other tough materials in the sanitary sewer as this will cause blockages in the lines, sewer mains and pump impellers.
Village Web Site
Villagers are invited to check out the village website at www.villageofalhambra.com. The website includes a list of all village officers, events, history and zoning codes. The sites will be used to notify the public of new events and important public notices.
Residents’ Phone Numbers
The Alhambra village clerk is asking all residents to see that the village office has a current phone number for each household. In the event of a water or gas leak, it may be necessary to contact someone immediately. Phone numbers will not be shared with anyone and will be used only to disseminate necessary information to residents.

Farmers Market running on Thursdays
New Douglas Village Market is open under the New Douglas Township Park Pavilion every Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m., with B&K Bakery goods, Beckerts Meats, the Family Garden produce and fruits, Share the Soap handmade soaps and skin care products, Tupperware.
The market is a good time to meet friends, share a Popsicle or ice cream bar from the park concession stand and go home with some really good food.
The market is always looking for new vendors to share their local products. Local families with extra garden produce can get a free table at the market this week.

Homecoming set for Aug. 19 & 20
This year’s homecoming will be on Friday, Aug. 19 and Saturday, Aug. 20. The theme for the children’s parade will be “Vintage Toys.” The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m., both nights. For further information, contact Bryan Rutz (618) 616-8045. There will be a baseball tournament on Saturday, Aug. 20 and Sunday, Aug. 21. Adam Vosholler is the chairman of the ball tournament.
