Clinton County gets 45 years for child pornography
A Clinton County man who admitted to repeatedly sexually abusing a minor over the course of several years and photographing the acts of abuse was sentenced Aug. 2 for child pornography offenses.
Miguel Angel Vasquez Torres, 34, of Beckemeyer, will serve 45 years in prison for production, distribution and receipt of child porn, U.S. Attorney Donald S. Boyce announced.
In May 2015, the FBI received information regarding an individual who was uploading video and image files containing child porn to a Photobucket.com cloud storage account. The Photobucket account belonged to Vasquez Torres, who worked at a Carlyle dairy farm.
In an interview with law enforcement officers, Vasquez Torres admitted the years of abuse of a minor victim, which he photographed. A forensic examination of his phone revealed about 440 images of the sexual abuse.
Vasquez Torres also admitted to downloading and distributing video files containing child porn. Law enforcement found about 22 video files containing child porn on Vasquez Torres’ phone, which he distributed and received using an Internet-based messaging system. One of the videos he downloaded depicted an infant being tortured and sexually abused.
The investigation was conducted by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department, the FBI’s Metro East Cyber Crimes and Analysis Task Force and the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Ali Summers.
Vasquez Torres was ordered to pay a $300 special assessment. He will be on federal supervised release for 10 years after he is released from prison.
