50th Anniversary: Robert & Karen Freeman
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Freeman of Highland celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family on Friday, Aug. 19 at Michael’s Restaurant in Highland.
Robert and Karen (Lybarger) Freeman were married on Aug. 19, 1966 at Collinsville Methodist Church by the Rev. Charles Tindle.
Bob was a former superintendent of the Highland School District and also the Jacksonville (Ill.) School District. He retired from his educational career as a professor at Western Illinois University in Macomb.
Karen was a part-time educator for a number of years while enjoying her full-time position as a stay-at-home mom.
They have three children, Kristan (Warren) Byrd, Kyle (Amy) Freeman and Kane (Jennifer) Freeman. They have 11 grandchildren, Caitlin Byrd (Mrs. Tony) Provinzano, Devynn Byrd, Cali Byrd, Camryn Byrd, Chayse Byrd, Jack Byrd and Cruz Byrd; Sophie and Will Freeman; and Jake and Sky Freeman.
