Burnell G. Mollet, 75, of Highland died Saturday, May 30, 2015 at his home.
A private funeral service and burial will be held on Friday, June 5, 2015 at Highland City Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland.
He was born Feb. 3, 1940 in Highland to Melvin Leo and Fernia Emma (Voegele) Mollet.
Mr. Mollett and grew up on a farm near Marine and moved to Highland. He was a graduate of St Paul High School and served with the U.S. Army.
He worked at General Motors in St. Louis, then started his own automotive repair shop in Highland. He retired in 2011. He made and raced dragsters. His specialty was high-performance engines. He loved race cars and was a official at Highland Speedway and Tri City Speedway for many years.
Survivors include a son, Merle L. (Maxine) Mollet of Pocahontas; a daughter, Joyce M. (Gary Sr.) Tadlock of Granite City; grandchildren, Kimberly A. (Kevin) Brink of Sorento, Craig L. (Brooke) Mollet of St. Rose, Gary Tadlock Jr. of Edwardsville, Michael Tadlock of Edwardsville, Crystal L. (fiancee Joshua Holliday) Tadlock of Granite City; and great-grandchildren, Kyle S., Kaleb S., Kolin (twin), Kaylen (twin) and Kaden Brink, all of Sorento, Emma L. and Cody J. Tadlock of Pontoon Beach, and Ansly M. Mollet of St. Rose.
He was preceded in death by his father, who died on Jan. 30, 2003; and his mother, who died on Oct. 26, 2011;
