Clothilda Pattberg, 85

Clothilda B. “Claudia” Pattberg, 85, of Highland died on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, June 1 and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2 at Meridith Funeral Home in Highland. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, with Father Charles A. Edwards, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Jamestown Cemetery.

She was born on Jan.18, 1930 in St. Rose to Frederick and Hildegarde (Geiger) Haislar. On Jan. 21, 1947, she married Martin Pattberg in Highland. He passed away on May 20, 1993.

Mrs. Pattberg reared between Highland and St. Rose. At the age of 16, she moved to Highland. She lived all her adult life in Highland, other than one year when she and her husband lived in East Alton.

She enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, and she and her husband made art on scrolled sawed logs. She raised and sold African violet flowers.

She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland.

Survivors include sons, Howard W. (Mary) Pattberg of Sulphur Springs, Texas, and Joseph L. (Barbara) Pattberg of Ozark, Ala.; daughters, Shirley A. Frey of Aviston and Elizabeth J. “Betty” (James) Schreckengast of Aviston; grandchildren, Tracy Frey, Scott Frey, Patrick Pattberg, Daniel (Ashton) Pattberg, Paul Pattberg, Jennifer (Mitch) Wells and Anna (Mike) Watson; great-grandchildren, Harry and Charlie Wells, Martin and Alexander Watson, Noah and Rory Pattberg, and Colby Pattberg; brothers, Anthony “Tony” (Joyce) Haislar of Highland, Frederick “Fritz” (Sally) Haislar of Highland and Frances “Frank” Haislar of Salem; and a sister-in-law, Ramona Haisler of Highland.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her a son in-law, David E. Frey, who died on March 20, 2006; grandchildren, Jeffrey Pattberg, Mike Pattberg and Jason Foehner; sisters, Mithilda Haislar, who died in infancy, Gertrude Haislar, who died at 8 years old, Lillian Marquardt, who died on March 7, 1986, and Julianna C. Lange, who died on May 20, 1996; brothers, Adolph J. Haislar, who died in June 1992, Bernard Haislar, who died on April 1, 1959, and Lawrence Haislar, who died on June 26, 2009.

Memorials may be made to the Highland Animal Shelter.
