Larry Thacker, 52

Larry E. Thacker, 52, of Highland died on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at home, surrounded by his family.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10 at at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo. Meridith Funeral Home in Highland is in charge of arrangements.

He was born on April 6, 1963 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Mr. Thacker served in the Marine Corps from 1982 to 1986. He re-upped in the Air Force for six more years, serving in Operation Desert Shield/Storm from August 1990 to February 1991.

He was a member of American Legion Post 439 in Highland and the Belleville Enduro Team (BET). He was an avid motorcycle rider. He loved to watch motorcycle racing, as well as NASCAR. He also loved classic cars and restoring them, and he loved spending time with his children fishing, camping and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Stacy Tabor of Highland; children, Tasha Thacker and Cayton Thacker; his parents, Jackie (Dane) Meyer of Gladstone, Ill.; a brother, Phillip Thacker of Columbia, Mo.; a step-sister, Casey (Matthew) Robinson of Texas; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and Dennis (Bonnie) Tabor of Highland.

Memorials may be made to the family for Cayton Thacker’s education.
