Rita L. Degenhardt, 91, of Alhambra died on Monday, June 8, 2015 at Meridian Village in Glen Carbon.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10 at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home in Belleville. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 11 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville, with Father Jeffrey Goeckner officiating. Burial will follow at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery in Belleville.
She was born on March 19, 1924 in Belleville to Joseph and Anna Marie (Bauer) Glauber. She married Martin C. Degenhardt on April 28, 1962. They had 43 years of marriage before he passed away on Dec. 5, 2005.
Mrs. Degenhardt was a 20-year employee of Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., before her marriage. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville. She enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time with her grandsons. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
Surviving are her daughters, Lynn (Jerry) Barnes of Creve Coeur, Mo., and Carol (Barry) Degenhardt-Basham of Belleville; grandsons, Andrew and Eric Barnes; a brother, Joe (Aurelia) Glauber of Belleville; and a sister-in-law, Hilde Degenhardt of Swansea.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Eugene (Ann) Glauber; and sisters, Sister Francis Paula Glauber, SSND, and Margaret Virginia Glauber, who died in infancy.
