Ruth Lowry, 87

Ruth Lowry, 87, of Staunton died on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Hitz Memorial Home in Alhambra.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 18 at Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton, with the Rev. Kelly Mitteis officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Staunton.

She was born on March 7, 1928 in Litchfield to George and Mabel (Stark) Compton. She married James F. Lowry Jr. on Oct. 26, 1947. He passed away on July 19, 1993.

Mrs. Lowry was a bookkeeper at First National Bank in Staunton for many years. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Staunton.

Survivors include a daughter, Jamie (Don) Ott of Staunton; a son, James “Jim” (Amy) Lowry of St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren, Tobin (Amanda) Ott of Orlando, Fla., Darren (Cassie) Ott of Staunton, Erin (Vince) Guidi of Louviere of Ark., and Cara (Sam) Johnson of St. Louis, Mo.; a great-grandchild, Myles Phillip Ott; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Virginia Bethel and Audrey Steinmeyer.

Memorials are may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
