Freda Fuchs, 94
Freda A. Fuchs, 94, of Highland died on Friday, Aug. 14, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17 at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home in Owensville, Mo. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug.18 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cuba, Mo., with Terry Knight officiating. Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland is in charge of local arrangements.
She was born on June 1, 1921 in Oak Hill, Mo., to Ollie C. and Nellie D. (Simpson) Souders. On April 11, 1942, she married James T. Fuchs. He passed away on Oct. 10, 1990.
Mrs. Fuchs grew up in Oak Hill, Mo., and graduated from Cuba (Mo.) High School.
She graduated from Southeast Missouri State College at Cape Girardeau, Mo., and she taught school briefly before moving to St. Louis, Mo. She worked for Lockwoven Co. for many years. She and her husband moved to Creve Coeur, Mo., in late 1940s, and she moved to Highland in 2009 to be near her daughter.
She enjoyed growing flowers, taking care of her garden, sewing, quilting and hand or fancy work. She was a very dedicated person, always tried to do her best.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 228 in St. Louis, Mo., for 75 years; Home Chapter 313 in St. Louis, Mo.; and the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 5694 in Highland.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon R. (Lynn) Hargus of Highland; a step-son, Donald I. (Glenda) Fuchs of Owensville, Mo.; step-grandchildren, Darin J. (Becky) Fuchs of Owensville, Mo., Dale W. (Alicia) Fuchs of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dawn R. Fuchs of Jefferson City, Mo.; step-great-grandchildren, Connor and Jason Fuchs of Owensville, Mo., and Dillon Fuchs of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Pauline F. Bell of Highland; and three nephews.
She was also preceded in death by by her parents.
Memorials may be made to Highland Historical Society or the Oak Hill Cemetery Association.
