Alberta G. Jacober, 96, of Highland died on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015 at Faith Care Center in Highland.
Visitation will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at Meridith Funeral Home in Highland. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 20 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, Father Dennis Voss officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland.
She was born on Dec. 14, 1918 in Alhambra to Albert and Grace (Peterson) Hiller. On Jan. 29, 1938, she married Alfred Jacober at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland. He preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 1989.
Mrs. Jacober was a member of St. Paul Church and was a quilter for St. Anne’s Altar Sodality She was active in the VFW Auxiliary and the American Red Cross, helping with blood drives. She sewed, cooked, baked, and loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Ronald (Lois) Jacober of St. Louis, Mo.; a daughter, Lynn (Ron) Petruska of St. Louis, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Betty Jacober of Highland; grandchildren, David (Melissa) Jacober of Pueblo, Colo., Jeffrey (Marilyn) Jacober of St. Louis, Mo., Matthew (Peggy) Jacober of St. Louis, Mo., Becky (Matt) Lunak of Schaumberg, Ill., Eric (Sarah) Petruska of St. Louis, Mo., Beth Petruska of Nashville, Tenn., Jennifer Barnett, and Jill (Jay) Bruce; and great-grandchildren, Christian, Amanda, Heidi, Sarah, Olivia, Emma, Cameron, Michael, and Liam.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and sons, Larry Jacober and James Jacober.
Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice or the VFW Auxiliary.
